UPDATE:Bonnie Ruth was adopted Jan 2009by a wonderful Noah's Kingdom Humane Society VOLUNTEER! Bonnie Ruth had been at our shelter for nearly one entire year. When she arrived at the shelter she was timid, scared and shyed away from any human contact due to the fact that we believe she had been abused. After a few months at the shelter and after having Vet care to remove painful bad teeth, she began to be very friendly! She would still swat at you if you made a sudden movement and scared her, but she would be the first cat at the shelter to jump into your lap and ask for attention. She certainly was a volunteer favorite and we are so very pleased to report that a Noah's VOLUNTEER couldn't say no to this sweet cat and didn't want her to stay another day without a real home! We will miss Bonnie Ruth but we are so thrilled that she has a home. We also promise to update you on how she is doing! Thanks to all of you who cared about Bonnie, your thoughts are appreciated!

We can learn a lot from animals. I know I certainly have. This is Bonnie Ruth a cat who has been waiting to be adopted for almost an entire year. She was abused. Someone sliced her tail off and she no longer has a tail, just a small stub where her tail had once been. When I first met Bonnie Ruth I thought she was a "mean" cat. If I approached her she would swat her paw at me. At the same time she often seemed to want love and interaction but didnt know how to go about asking for it. So, she would just sit alone in her cage. day in and day out that is where the volunteers of Noah's Kingdom Humane Society would find her. Then an alert volunteer saw htat Bonnie Ruth suffered from a painful dental issue. We brought her to the Vet and she had some teeth pulled an take care of. When Bommie Ruth returned to our shelter she did some things that amazed us...she came out of her cage. Wow-that was a big move for Bonnie. she is afraid of other cats but tolerated them being a few feet away from her as long as she felt save and not treatened. Next she did something I NEVER would have imagined and Ithought I knew cats.....Bonnie jumped into a volunteers lap and asked for LOVE! Was it a once in a life freak occutrance? Nope, she is the 1st cat out every day at the shlter and the 1st one to jump right into your lap and will stay there all day long if she could. she still needs a home hoever adn due toher abuse she isn't an ideal cat for a family with little children. But, she will make someone a very happy person. Someone who gives an abused cat a second chance. We all can learn from Bonnnie Ruth. Happy Holidays and let's hope this is the last Christmas Bonnie Ruth has to spend in a shelter without a real home and family.
